Defensive lines will be formed on the sidelines at the free throw line extended at one end of the court. An offensive line will be formed under the basket on the baseline. The drill begins with the coach shooting a ball and the offensive player either rebounding or taking the ball out of the net as the two defensive players approach. The defensive players try to trap the offensive player as he attempts to bring it up the court.
Goals / purpose / skills
To work on techniques of trapping the dribbler in the back court.
Defensive lines can be moved towards half court (further away from the offensive player).
Tips / Hints / Emphasis
Defensive players must work together to create correct trapping angles. While the dribble is alive, the defense should stay an arms length away from the offensive player.
