Description Start underneath the basket facing the right sideline. Take one step with your left foot, rotate your shoulders and hips and shoot a right handed hook shot off the backboard into the basket. Catch the ball with both hands before it hits the floor, take one step with your right foot towards the left sideline, rotate your shoulders and hips and shoot a left handed hook shot off the backboard into the basket. Repeat on the right side.
Goals / purpose / skills This a hook shot drill that can be used as a warm up or shooting drill, and should be performed by both perimeter and post players. Continue until a specific number of baskets are made. Start back at 0 on a miss. Work on developing the hook shot with both hands.
Variations Can be performed with an additional dribble taking the player further away from the basket. Can also be performed underneath the backboard, or shooting reverse hook shots off the opposite leg.
Tips / Hints / Emphasis Work on form and rhythm, build up speed gradually.
