Description
Picture 1: O1 & O2 play 2-1 against X1.
Picture 2: Upon score / rebound / steal X2 & X3 join X1 and play 3v2 into opposite basket against O1 & O2.
Picture 3: Upon score / rebound / steal O2 & O3 join O1 & O2 and play 4v3 into opposite basket against X1, X2 & X3.
Picture 4: Upon score / rebound / steal X4 & X5 join X1, X2 & X3 and play 5v4 into opposite basket against O1, O2, O3 & O4.
Picture 5: Upon score / rebound / steal O5 joins O1, O2, O3 & O4 and play 5v5 into opposite basket against X1, X2, X3, X4 & X5.
Goals / purpose / skills
This is a full court transition drill that creates numerical advantages for the offense and gradually transitions from 2-1 into 5-5. It is used by numerous NBA coaches. Work on Transition Offense, Transition Defense & Reading Transition Situations
Variations
The drill can be broken down if used with less than 10 players.
Tips / Hints / Emphasis
Ensure that players are correctly lined up at the start, else you will have the wrong numbers running and will have to stop the drill!
