Description This drill simulates a strong deny play on the wing position. The offensive player O1 brings his defender down with a cut towards the baseline away from the ball, and then cuts with a fast and hard move toward the basket to receive a pass from the coach for a layup.
Goals / purpose / skills Fundamental exercise to gets open and receive the ball under strong defensive pressure.
Variations After receiving the pass, the player could shoot a jump shot without a dribble.
If the player performs the exercise correctly, he should practice the movement against a defender. At the beginning the defender should work only at half speed.
Tips / Hints / Emphasis The first cut away from the ball should be performed at half speed. The cut to the basket has to be very fast.
